Diabetes health coaching aims to improve your confidence around diabetes management. Diabetes is tough, and it’s easy to become fatigued, frustrated and overwhelmed by it. That’s why I focus on coaching through a framework of mental wellness.

Whether you’re a caregiver, person living with diabetes, or supporting a partner living with the diabetes, the goal is to build the healthiest version of you, from the inside out.

Coaching is a short-term, directive, and solution-focused process. It does not diagnose or treat any mental illness that is included in the DSM-V.


 

Individual Coaching

Individual coaching offers tools and strategies that highlight strengths and challenge thinking patterns that make you feel stuck. Diabetes health coaching can help:

Caregiver Coaching

Parents and caregivers take on a huge portion of diabetes management, and oftentimes it takes a toll. Caregiver coaching offers tools to help keep your own health and wellness in check while checking on your loved ones. Caregiver coaching can help:

  • prioritize your self care
  • manage caregiver burnout
  • achieve a healthy work-life-caregiver balance
  • set healthy boundaries
  • decrease feelings of isolation
  • build self-awareness and self-compassion
  • make confident decisions
  • set realistic expectations for your role in diabetes management
  • improve problem-solving skills
  • gain personal insights to understand and connect with yourself

Recommended for parents of kids with diabetes and caregivers supporting children or adults living with diabetes.

Family Coaching

Diabetes management often becomes a whole family affair. As children with diabetes move toward adulthood, the transition to independent management can be complicated for everyone involved.

Family coaching involves both parents/caregivers and adolescents. Customized plans include addressing the following issues:

  • transitioning diabetes management tasks from the caregivers to the teenager
  • creating realistic expectations for diabetes management and support
  • addressing caregiver and teen diabetes burnout
  • improving family communication and barriers to progress
  • providing psychoeducation on normal teenage development

*Recommended for families with an adolescent living with Type 1 Diabetes.

Relationship Coaching

Diabetes can feel like an isolating condition, both for the person living with diabetes and those in a supportive role. Relationship coaching can help if you need to get some perspective on goals, or rebuild relationship wellness.

Relationship coaching involves customized plans that address the following issues:

  • prioritizing self care while supporting each other
  • managing diabetes burnout for one or both partners
  • setting healthy boundaries
  • handling challenges successfully
  • navigating difficult conversations
  • creating realistic expectations for diabetes management and support
  • building effective and skillful communication

*Recommended for couples with either one of both partners living with diabetes.

*Relationship coaching is not couples therapy.

All coaching programs include:

  • 1 initial intake and assessment session (mandatory)
  • The creation and implementation of customized goal-setting plans
  • Tools and techniques to assist with achieving success
  • Solution-focused exercises to practice during sessions
  • 1 complimentary 20-minute consultation call to determine if these programs are right for you (optional)
  • Customized payment plans, or pay per session
